Join your instructor, Anthony Sleiman, for an unforgettable overnight photography workshop at Cape Sable, one of the most secluded destinations in Everglades National Park. Curated for a small group of only five participants, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to photograph the Geminids meteor shower, along with the Milky Way, in a place few ever get to experience.

Your experience begins one week before the trip with an online preparation class, where Anthony will guide you through what to expect, review essential gear, camera basics, and answer any questions to ensure you’re ready for your field adventure.

The field workshop begins with a scenic boat ride across Florida Bay, bringing you to a pristine beachfront campsite. All camping gear will be provided, so you can focus on your camera and creativity. Once settled, Anthony will introduce techniques for astrophotography such as planning, the exposure triangle, night focusing, time-lapses, and single exposures, along with more advanced techniques like panoramas and stacking.

At dawn, participants will photograph the sunrise over the Florida Bay with opportunities of spotting and photographing wildlife, practice landscape compositions, and explore the subtle light of early morning before returning to Flamingo.

This is not just a workshop, but an immersive adventure into the wild heart of the Everglades; where photography, wilderness, and solitude come together in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Program Details:

Wednesday, December 3rd, 7:30 PM: Online meeting to provide instructions,  review camera gear, and answer any questions

Saturday, December 13th, 2:30 PM: Meet at Guy Bradley Visitor Center in Flamingo to check in and board the boat.

Sunday, December 14th: Wildlife photography session in the morning, returning to Flamingo Marina by 8:00 AM.

What To Bring:

As this is an overnight trip to one of the most remote areas in the Everglades, it’s important to come prepared. There is no dock at Cape Sable, so you may get your feet wet when stepping off the boat. Temperatures during this time of year can vary, with daytime highs in the 80s and nighttime lows in the 60s, so please pack layers and extra clothing to stay comfortable.

This is a primitive camping experience with no facilities at Cape Sable. Participants should be prepared to use the restroom in the wilderness and bring enough food, snacks, water, and personal items to feel comfortable overnight. While all camping gear, and instruction are provided, bringing the right clothing, insect protection, and personal supplies will ensure you are fully ready to enjoy this rare and immersive photography adventure under the stars.
